About SWIHE

SWIHE

Membership in the Southwestern Indiana Home Educators (SWIHE) is open to all homeschoolers living in Southwestern Indiana as well as the tri-state area.  SWIHE  was organized to serve the area’s homeschool community through

  • providing encouragement, support and educational opportunities to current homeschoolers,
  • providing resources and support to new homeschoolers,
  • sponsorship of an annual regional convention.

The purpose of SWIHE is to promote the God-given responsibility of parents to “train up [their children] in the way [they] should go.” (Proverbs 22:6)

We believe parents are their children’s first, best, and most important teachers. It is their God-given responsibility to discern, supervise, and choose appropriate curricula and materials for their children.

SWIHE Steering Committee

The SWIHE Steering Committee consists of up to six Christian couples who volunteer to serve the homeschool community.  The Steering Committee seeks to have distinctly Christian perspective and seeks to be a Godly encouragement to all homeschoolers living in southwestern Indiana.

The Steering Committee does not endorse any particular schooling method, product, activity, or curricula.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.”  Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NIV)
